A comprehensive side-by-side comparison between OpenAFS as distributed filesystem and other open source file systems does not yet exist but might be most helpful, particularly to potential users still in the process of selecting the most appropriate file system for their task at hand. Maybe you wish to volunteer and help develop such a comparison?
Among the plethora of existing network file systems, OpenAFS is most like DFS (conceived at Microsoft) or NFS (originating at SUN Microsystems).
