Initiatives Drawing on OpenAFS

Are there certain research initiatives "out there"that are suitable for OpenAFS? What makes them a good match? Are there initiatives in the educational arena that are good matches for OpenAFS technology? What about physics, or pharma industry? Is OpenAFS being used across several organizations and supporting collaborative initiatives somewhere?
